Are you self-conscious about your smile?
At Bedford Specialist Orthodontics, we help adults improve their smile to increase confidence and improve oral health. Orthodontic treatment can be a significant boost to many people’s lives, whatever their age.
Orthodontics for Adults
At our orthodontic practice in Bedford, also covering Bedford Borough and north and central Bedfordshire, we specialise in straightening teeth to achieve a healthy and attractive smile.
- Whether you missed out on orthodontic treatment as a child or your teeth have shifted over the years, it’s often possible to straighten teeth at any age.
- Orthodontic treatment can correct crowded or misaligned teeth, enhancing self-esteem and creating a beautiful smile so you can smile with confidence.
- Straighter teeth can also make it easier to keep your teeth and gums clean, reducing the risk of decay and gum disease.
- Additionally, orthodontic treatment can improve your bite, help preserve your natural teeth longer, and prevent further wear on your teeth.

Teeth Straightening Options
Modern orthodontics can straighten smiles of any age. As long as your teeth and gums are healthy, we can help you achieve the smile you’ve always dreamed of. At our orthodontic practice in Bedford, we treat many adult patients with discreet and convenient orthodontic methods.
Invisalign aligners: these clear, nearly invisible aligners are extremely popular among our adult patients. They are removable for eating and brushing and fit seamlessly into your schedule. They are so discreet that your smile will remain the focus instead of your treatment.
Tooth-Coloured Ceramic Braces: Fixed braces consist of brackets bonded to the teeth and connected by archwires. These components exert gentle pressure on the teeth, gradually moving them into their correct positions. Fixed braces are an efficient and reliable choice for orthodontic treatment, effectively correcting a wide range of dental misalignments.
The brackets of ceramic braces are translucent, blending in with the colour of your teeth, making them much less noticeable than traditional metal braces.

Adult Orthodontics FAQs
An orthodontist will have initially qualified as a dentist, and gained years of an experience before attending an internationally recognised 3-year programme to gain academic and clinical training to specialise as in orthodontics.
A specialist orthodontist will have trained for an additional two years to gain further experience in the management of more complex orthodontic problems that often require a special skillset.
No, you are never too old for braces. We have successfully treated patients of all ages. As long as your teeth and gums are healthy, then we can offer you orthodontic treatment.
Patients visit the practice every few months, but this is dependent on the brace type and treatment needs. If Dental Monitoring via your smart phone is applicable in your case, appointments are only needed when physically necessary, this can be usually every 3-4 months for fixed braces and every 6-9 months for Invisalign.
Costs depend on the type of braces you choose and the extent of your orthodontic needs. Visit our Fees page to see approximate costs.
